Outdoor Adventures in St. Pete Florida – Fort de Soto Park

Sunset_Fort_de_Soto_St_Pete_Florida_by_Heidi_SiefkasI often challenge people to tell me, "What's your next adventure?" Many have plans to travel abroad or visit our National Parks, but others look at me and say something like, "How can I afford to go on an adventure? I don't have the time. I have too much work to do." What I hear is basically in one way or another an excuse. The person might have valid points to his or her case, but the fact is going on an adventure whether in your hometown, close to home or far away has three major benefits. You just have to make it a priority!

After a recent stressful week, I decided an adventure was in order. I didn't go far, taking a local adventure across the Everglades to the West Coast of Florida and the Sunshine City of St. Petersburg. Having spent much time in the Tampa/St.Pete area over the last two years on Carnival Paradise cruises to Cuba, I selected a more outdoorsy way to reap the benefits of adventure at Fort de Soto State Park.

Check out my under a minute recap of this outdoor adventure close to home, filled with biking, kayaking, camping, hammocking, wildlife spottings, and beautiful sunsets.

As always, here's to looking up!
