Have you ever had bad night’s sleep because you were worried about all the things you had to do the next day?
Have you ever arrived to your office or home and didn’t remember driving there?
Well, if you are like me, I’ve been there.
When I was a travel industry executive, I would get to the office on Friday and wonder, “Where has the week gone?” I was on autopilot trying to accomplish my to-do list that was longer than a CVS receipt. I’m a recovering multi-tasker. I tend to take on more than I can chew. Plus, I’m a self-proclaimed Super Woman.
However, I know I’m not alone in this. There may be some of you that are reading this while driving to work, on the toilet, or on the treadmill. Stop it! This post is to remind you to take the time daily, just like your multi-vitamin, to Look Up.
Look Up is a powerful mantra that I created in 2010 after a life-changing accident and lesson. I share Look Up with you and the world. To remind us all of two essential things to get out of the cycle of constant to-do lists or being on autopilot.
Look Up has two principles:
- Be in the moment, appreciating the beauty as well as hazards around you.
- Find the upside. Each life hurdle, hiccup, or wound is an opportunity for learning.
Look Up is an essential life tool that is lightweight, free, and can be used anywhere. When you get to a stoplight on your way to work, while you waiting in a line for your coffee/tea, or as you are on hold for customer service in India, I encourage you to think, speak, or even mouth the two powerful words, looking around at what is going on in the NOW. Also, Look Up can help with a rough patch you may be experiencing. Use it to find the upside. Every obstacle turns into wisdom.
As I said, I’m a recovering multi-tasker. I take on more than I can chew as a self-proclaimed Super Woman. However, I still find times that life is overwhelming. Yes, I revert to bad, old habits. I need to remind myself daily of Look Up on my phone. I have an alert set at a noon to take a moment to shift my perspective.
If that’s too calculated for you, I have created a logo for Look Up. I have even printed it on something that you can carry with you everywhere that you go. It’s a little cell phone wallet with the Look Up reminder. I don’t leave the home without it; so, I always have my secret weapon in my purse, pocket, or in my hand. You can too. If you would like to receive a Look Up cell wallet for you, your loved ones, and/or friends, purchase yours through PayPal for only $5 each.
Here’s to looking up!
