This Look Up Day, I celebrate abroad with new friends in New Zealand, you (virtually), and of course my clan wherever they may be: Midwest, Florida, Spain, New England, Arizona, Cuba, Hawaii, or New York. Every 27th of the month, I share Look Up Day with you to remind you to:
1) Be aware of your surroundings
(ex. watch for beauty, falling tress, or other hazards)
2) Positively spin each situation
(ex. look at the upside of circumstances – change your perspective)
In order to honor the lesson that I learned from a near-death accident nearly five years ago, I treat myself to something that truly makes me happy: getting a good sweaty workout because I physically can, meeting with a group of good friends and family to laugh, or writing, releasing that rekindled artistic talent.
I’m currently in New Zealand with a continuing adventure to Australia. It is not the first time, I have celebrated Look Up Day abroad. I spent a wonderful Look Up Day in Cusco on my way to Machu Picchu last year (featured image), Havana, Cuba in 2012-2013, and Patagonia in 2011. Today I will be getting active in Akaroa on the South Island, laughing with new friends, and writing some of the good times and good stories of this Look Up Day.
Here’s to looking up!
