As I witness people walking across the street glued to their phones or catch myself Snapchatting while on a mini-getaway to the Bahamas, I have to slap myself and virtually you all too.
What are we doing? Are we living life in front of a screen instead of with ourselves, our loved ones, and in the moment? Now, I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m a culprit of updating Facebook while in a beautiful place or scoping at ungodly hours; however, I also know when to shut it off. Do you?
On Look Up Day, which was created to remind us all to #LookUp:
1) Be in the moment, appreciating the beauty around you as well as hazards
2) Spin each situation positively, as all situations and wounds turn into opportunities and wisdom.
I challenge you to take a little break from the screen and let’s face it multi-tasking. I ask you to treat yourself; Look Up for your entire lunch hour, afternoon, or evening. I’ll be taking the challenge too.
Currently, I’m in Habana, Cuba, which has forced me for the last six days to be without much Internet. Cuba has reinforced #LookUp for me a lot.
Here’s to looking up!
