Explore Ancient Japan in Kyoto and Walking the UNESCO Pilgrimage Trail, Kumano Kodo just like I did.
Want to walk one of the most rewarding pilgrimage trails in the world?
The Kumano Kodo is an ancient pilgrimage trail on the Kii Peninsula of Japan where you will walk daily amongst forests and beautiful mountain landscapes from Shinto and Buddist shrines and stay nightly in traditional Japanese ryokans. Along the way, there are opportunities to soak in onsens (hot thermal baths).
Kumano Kodo Emperor Route
Are you ready for this inspirational & transformational walk?
Be prepared for daily mileage of 6 miles to 8 miles. This adventure is not for everyone. This section of the Kumano Kodo is challenging but doable. For those that do it, there are many rewards. One of which, you can get a certification of completion at Hongu Taisha and dual certification if you have already completed the Camino de Santiago, which is the sister trail to the Kumano Kodo.
