Explore Ancient Japan in Kyoto and Walking the UNESCO Pilgrimage Trail, Kumano Kodo May 16-23rd, 2020
Want to walk one of the most rewarding pilgrimage trails in the world?
The Kumano Kodo is an ancient pilgrimage trail on the Kii Peninsula of Japan where you will walk daily amongst forests and beautiful mountain landscapes from Shinto and Buddist shrines and stay nightly in traditional Japanese ryokans. Along the way, there are opportunities to soak in onsens (hot thermal baths).
This is an 8-day Adventure with a Unique Combo of Kyoto and Kumano Kodo Hike
The hiking portion of the trip is 3 days (3 walking + 1 rest day in Hongu with a river cruise + bus transfer to Nachi). The pre-trip day-tour of Kyoto is to recover from the flights from the US and get to know the basics of Japanese culture. The end of the trip is in Katsuura. You can take the train back to KIX for your international flights. See more details.
