Requesting Help with Second Book’s Cover – With New Eyes

With New Eyes, the sequel of When All Balls Drop, will be released later this year. As I did with my debut, I would like to ask your help in selecting the cover. These are four cover drafts.

Which speaks to you given the book description below (A,B,C, or D)? Please submit a comment to help me narrow the selection.

Heidi Siefkas continues her journey of recovery and life change in her sequel to When All Balls Drop. After losing everything—health, marriage, and career—Heidi fights to regain her health and embarks on redesigning her life on her terms. Along this rite of passage, she returns to her roots in Wisconsin, dives into the South Florida dating scene, revisits old flames in New England, sells her first home, jumps out of a plane, and travels alone to South America. Every leg of her journey provides a healthy dose of perspective.

With New Eyes is full of mishaps and brave new turns seasoned with sassy humor. Through her signature down-to-earth vignettes, Heidi shares how returning to familiar places with familiar faces along with exploring the unknown helped her architect an ever-changing life of newfound happiness. With New Eyes inspires you to conquer your fears, head for adventure, and be the captain of your own ship.

BTW, the sub-title is still undecided. I'm looking for something shorter like the sub-title of When All Balls Drop: The Upside of Losing Everything, but it hasn't come to me yet. Any ideas?

Thank you/Mahalo for your feedback!

I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback. Please add A,B,C,or D with suggestions, what your liked, and perhaps even a shorter sub-title.

    I like D the best!
  3. hi Heidi, I'm a Facebook friend of Anat's. I had sent her a link to have her vote on my book cover today and she told me you were having both on yours. quite serendipitous I must say. Please take a moment to vote on mine, if you would.http://rhondarobbins.com/blog/vote-for-your-favorite-cover-design/#pg-image-1 I'm also a graphic designer and here is my feedback about your cover. I don't know that being a graphic being a graphic designer has anything to do with it, in the end it's just all personal opinion And what resonates with us. I feel like covers number A and D are super busy with a lot of competition for your eyes. Almost feel like cover C it's too plain. I save your B, it seems to have the rope elements for the road in the sky kind of happy kind of makes me think I was going on an adventure. I think this cover would have brought it feel to people who would purchase your book. cover C is definitely very much more artistic than beautiful, it's more like a portrait in a book cover. And blow it up and hang it in my office. I think was the open road there it gives people a sense of going somewhere and getting out of the mundane life. In climb into your life of excitement for a few minutes all the better. thanks for letting me comment. if you'd be kind enough to comment on mine that would be great thank you

Mahalo Anat and Rhonda! As a FYI: I'm getting a lot of A on Facebook. Personally, I love the road and sunset of A and D. I also love use of the eyes. Although the blue skies and newer road are appealing, it may be too Hollywood-esque. The other thing to take into account is With New Eyes is a sequel to When All Balls Drop which had a very clean cover: white cover and fall colors. 5. Hi there! Followed you here from the Women Writers group on Facebook! My vote is for D, and for a very specific reasons. 1. Covers B and C are lovely, but they made me immediately wonder whether the book were self-help, which from your description doesn't seem to be the case. I would probably overlook them if my assumption is that your story was strictly self-help (unless of course, that's what I was looking for). 2. Cover A feels a bit busy, and the face really doesn't match up with the otherwise beautiful imagery. I feel like D is the prettiest but also gives me the best sense of the type of book you're presenting. I am no graphic artist, but that's my two cents! :-) They all look great, though!
  6. Hi, I prefer C. It's cleaner, and the one I would be most likely to pick up in a bookstore. I may be a lone reed in a large pond though! Good luck, whatever you decide! The Hedgehog x
