Some Great Destinations For Animal Encounters

Tiger_in_Snow

Since a child, I have loved to watch animals. It's interesting to see how similar they to us in emotions and actions. In most of our hometowns, animal encounters are of a more domestic nature: dogs, cats, and goldfish. That's why I asked a peer travel writer, Keith Holmen, to share his favorite destinations for wildlife encounters.

There are many reasons why you might want to travel to all different parts of the world. But one of the most exciting, and a particularly common one, is the possibility of seeing many different animals in different places. Obviously, if you travel to a number of different places you are likely to see many different animals, and so it is worth trying to expand your horizons for that reason alone. But it might be the case that certain destinations in particular are especially good for seeing some amazing wildlife, and that is what we are going to take a look at in this article. Here are some of the greatest destinations in the world for getting up close to some of the world’s most amazing animals.

Okefenokee

You might not have heard of this, but it is actually a particularly good spot for getting to see some of the world’s most beautiful animals in their natural habitats, and it has to be mentioned here at the very least. Okefenokee is an American National Park located across Georgia and Florida, and if you go there you can expect to see a huge range of amazing animals out in the wilderness. What’s more, it is a relatively easy way to do so, as it is very tourist-friendly and you can easily find a beautiful hotel near Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge which you can stay in for the duration. If you want to see some wild animals in the USA, there is hardly anywhere better than here.

Australia Zoo

Located in the Australian state of Queensland, along its Eastern edge, is the stunning and massive Australia Zoo, once owned by Steve Irwin and now still run by his family after his death. Here you can expect to see a huge range of animals - everything from meerkats, lions, cheetahs and even giraffes and elephants. You can, of course, also expect to see many of Australia’s own amazing creatures, whether it’s the wallaby, the koala, or the kangaroo. This is the kind of place you won’t ever forget, and it happens to be incredibly affordable, too, so you can even consider bringing your whole family here.

Galapagos_TortoiseGalapagos

Ever since Darwin landed here and made notes on its Giant Tortoises and many other fascinating creatures, the Galapagos islands have been known worldwide as being one of the most fascinating destinations to see wild animals. If you are looking for a truly unique experience, then this is certainly somewhere you might want to consider, and you should find that you can get to see some pretty amazing animals along the way. The Galapagos are steeped in natural history, and the sheer diversity of animals you can see is what makes it amazing. Be sure to put this at the top of your bucket list if you are really keen to see some incredible animals in the wild. You might be surprised at just how much there is here to see.
