Write Yourself a Reminder to Look Up

Can you relate to this scenario?

busy-multitaskingI can!

My week has already been a blur with countless Post-Its.

I’ve turned in a travel article right before the deadline, gone to the gym, did my taxes, went to my dentist for a cleaning, packed for an up and coming trip, celebrated my father’s eighty-third birthday, and contemplated what I was going to post here for Look Up Day while cooking my go-to easy dinner tortilla española.

Sound familiar?

Have you ever gotten to Friday and wondered where the week has gone?

I bet you have because I have.

Adding One More Thing to Your List

To-Do-List_ImageWhatever your list of errands or deadlines is, I’m going to give you some wise advice; write yourself another reminder.

I know just another thing to add to your to-do list as long as a CVS receipt, right?

Well, hear me out.

Write Yourself a Reminder to Look Up!

Look_Up_Post-ItWhether on a Post-It note or on your Smartphone, write yourself a reminder to take a break and Look Up. Believe me, I’m not preaching to the choir nor calling the kettle black. I actually have a reminder on my phone at noon every day. I also write a Look Up post once a month as a larger reminder for me to pass on to you.

Look Up reminds us all to:

  • Be in the moment, appreciating the beauty around us as well as hazards. In essence, be mindful.
  • Find the upside in any situation. All wounds, hurdles, and hiccups turn into wisdom.

Now, I’m a serial multi-tasker. I’m trying to quit, but I’m an overachiever. I have to periodically remind myself to do one thing at a time, be in the moment, and breathe.

I know I’m not alone. So, I invite you to the Look Up Club.

Here’s to looking up!
